Hi Richard,

maybe I didn't understand correctly the problem about relinking external file on maya, but unless I'm wrong, maya have tool that show where a texture is used in a scene : if you check under Windows -> General Editors -> File Path Editor

you can see a list of all texture path and which node use them.

Oh great. I didn't know that and it looks like there are also the necessary python commands for that. That will help alot, thanks.
