blender 2.80/2.81 not update alembic state

I am working on a new project and I see

state manager not update alembic meshes on blender 2.8 /2.81

I guess your object is not animated? In this case you have to uncheck the "Alembic - Update path only" checkbox in the import state settings and click import again.

For animated alembics Blender creates a modifier on the object and Prism can simply relink it to the new alembic file. For static objects Blender doesn't create a modifier and you cannot use that option.

ok I understand.
but in case of having a model already with skin is it possible to update only the geometry?

As far as I know that's not possible in Blender, because there is no connection to the original alembic file. But I'm not a Blender expert. If you find a way to do that, I can implement it in Prism.
