Scene files can be opened via the Project Browser:

  • Open the Project Browser.

  • Double-click to open a scene file.

The selected scene file is now opened in After Effects.

Save Version#

How to save and version up scene files in After Effects?

Scene files can be saved via the Prism menu:

  • Select Save Version.

Hint

A new scene file version is saved and visible in the Project Browser.

Save Comment#

How to save, version up and add descriptions or thumbnails to scene files in After Effects?

Scene files can be saved with additional options via the Prism menu:

  • Select Save Comment….

  • Add a Comment.

  • Add a Description.

  • Use the Change preview button to add a thumbnail preview.

Hint

A new scene file version is saved with all set options and appears in the Project Browser.

Save Current#

How to save external scene files in After Effects?

External scene files can be saved to the current Prism project:

  • Open the Project Browser.

  • Right-click in the empty space of the Scenefiles tab, to open the context menu.

  • Select Create new version from current.

  • If the external scene files do not match the given shot frame range, a pop-up notification will appear.

Hint

The current scene file version is saved and appears in the Project Browser.
