Did you ever want to save your big simulation caches to a different hard drive or have one location for all your renderings, which is separate from all your scenefiles? Then this feature is for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now you can add additional export and render locations in the project settings. These locations can be outside of the current project or in any subfolder inside your project. It’s up to you how you want to structure your project. You can use locations to create libraries or archives among other things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After you added additional locations to your project you will see a “location” option in your export and render states in the State Manager. From the dropdown you can select in which location you want to save your caches or renders. The “global” option in the dropdown is the default project location, which will save the files in the same place you are used to from previous Prism versions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The way it works is like this: You can split the default outputpath of a cache into two parts. The first part is the path of your current project and the second part is the relative path in your project, which includes the folders of the shot and version of the cache. If you choose a different location to save your caches, the first part (the project path) gets replaced with the location path. Inside this location path Prism will create the folders of the second part, like shot and version folders. You will end up with a structure in your custom location, which is similar to your project folder instead of saving all the caches from different shots directly to the top level location folder, which would create a big mess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/prism-pipeline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/location_path-1024x201.jpg\")
